I WONDER... How to make a certain system into this Mess in spelling and pronunciation!??

'We have letters, but they do not stand for sounds actually. English is NOT phonetical language! But grammar is like arithmetics, trust me! You can speculate why it does not work easy, but might be the reason is we mixed, but did not blend most of words came from Roman latin, Celtic,Scandinavian langauge - called Old English,for some reason, French, Chruch Latin, dialects and some other ..'
My advice- make a card (on an old left from Christmas) with those transcription used to explain you how to read actually. Make also a card of phonetic alphabet, so when on the phone you can be certain your name is spelt correctly. You see if you decide to meet with your American friend somewhere on /Lester/ square you might never see them again as it is /Lechester/.
